The BVB simmering – now the boss speaks!
On Sunday, Hans-Joachim Watzke (64) spoke at the Borussia Dortmund general meeting in the Westfallenhallen.
With the 4-2 win against Gladbach, BVB gained some breathing room after two league defeats in a row. Boss Watzke is now dishing it out – against the team, especially the media and competition.

… Team: The BVB boss publicly defended the stars on Sunday (“We don’t have to go to hell”) because they are in a Champions League place in the Bundesliga and in first place in the Monster -Group of the premier class would stand.
But BILD already revealed on Sunday morning that there was a rattle in the dressing room last week after the defeat in Stuttgart and Watzke made a clear announcement.
Watzke confirmed this later in his speech: “The team has to endure hearing from me for a second time this week. But today it’s a bit more moderate in tone…”

… Media: “We have been exposed to a media barrage for months, the likes of which I have not experienced in ages,” Watzke shoots against the reporting in recent weeks. “I have to make sure every week that we are not playing against relegation.” And further: “Borussia Dortmund didn’t let this destroy them!”

… Competition: Before the cracker against league leaders Leverkusen, whose performance the BVB boss is currently “unabashedly” recognizing as “most extraordinary”, he is making a moderate announcement before the clash next week.

Watzke on the sporting situation: “If we are honest…”

Watzke on VAR: “We had a game without VAR in Hoffenheim. Somehow I felt a little more liberated. (…) If the VAR wants to have a future, we have to get a better handle on it. Football thrives on emotions. That’s sometimes heavy food.”
