In the Italian mountain resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo tonight, the home team experienced a major disappointment, as they had a three-goal advantage in the last 14 minutes of regular time and conceded the decisive goal in the 60th second of extra time in the loss (4:5) against “Ferencváros” Budapest.
American Nolan Laporte (2+1) and Finn Aku Kestile (1+2) scored three points for the Hungarian club. The winning goal was scored by the Czech Vladimir Rot, who also had an assist.
The inability of the “Cortina” team to win any kind of victory allowed the Herning team to reach the final stage for the first time since 2016, which came back from 0:2 in the last seven and a half minutes of the regular time and beat the Katowice team 3:2 in overtime.
