The 24-year-old Yvoirian athlete plays at the Gishi Jambes club. At the top in Belgium, he aims to knock on the doors of major world competitions.

A few weeks ago, at the end of a day of three fights in Tielt, Edouard Capelle became Belgian champion in over 100 kg, the premier category of judo. This is the sixth national title for the Yvoirian (three among young people, three among seniors). Edouard is indeed part of the Belgian elite.

Edouard Capelle’s stronghold is Gishi Jambes, one of the most important clubs in Belgium. Edouard trains twice a day on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Bodybuilding is every day. Strength training is as important as specific judo training. One of the main achievements among young people for Edouard Capelle: a 5th place at the Junior World Championships in Morocco. Afterwards, we had to make choices, the studies went through that.

Objective: return to European level

Edouard Capelle has been at the top of Belgian judo for several years. Today, he aims to compete again with the European top and the world top. This will involve more federal training in Limal or Brussels. At 24 years old, a judoka weighing more than 100 kg is still young.

At the end of January, Edouard hopes to shine at the international tournament in Visé, the most prestigious in Belgium, but also during inter-team events with his club Gishi Jambes.
