Average Number of Viewers Exceeds FIFA Target

Jakarta

A total of 514 thousand tickets have been sold until the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. This figure is proof of the high level of public interest in watching world-class young stars compete in Indonesia.

This figure was released by the local U-17 World Cup committee led by Erick Thohir. If divided into 44 matches, the average attendance per match reaches 11,681 people. This has exceeded the target set by FIFA, namely 10 thousand spectators per match.

Considering there are still eight matches remaining, this number will still increase. Moreover, there are a number of exciting matches that present big forces in football.

For example, Spain will face Germany and Brazil will meet Argentina in the quarter-finals. France vs Uzbekistan is no less interesting, as is the Mali vs Morocco duel which could bring out new stars from Africa.

“We are certainly grateful for the high interest of the U-17 World Cup spectators who have exceeded the targets set by FIFA. This proves that the U-17 World Cup is an entertaining and interesting spectacle for the audience,” said Erick Thohir, Thursday (23/11/2023 ).

“The top 8 matches will be an interesting spectacle, especially the world classic matches at JIS between Brazil vs Argentina and Spain vs Germany. This is a match that would be a shame to miss.”

“What is no less interesting is the top 8 match in Solo which will bring together one of the favorite champions, France, with the only Asian representative, Uzbekistan. There will also be an African Derby which will certainly be very interesting to watch,” said Erick, who is also the General Chair of PSSI.
