This Saturday evening, for the 11th day of Ligue 1, Marseillais and Lillois parted with a goalless draw at the Vélodrome (0-0).

This time, the match took place and went off without a hitch. A week after the sad and serious incidents on the sidelines of the “Olympico” between Marseille and Lyon, the Phocéens returned to the Stade Vélodrome and came up against a very good Lille team.

Both teams could have won this meeting but sorely lacked realism and efficiency in finishing. From the quarter of an hour into the game, the Mastiffs came close to opening the score. Marseille goalkeeper Pau Lopez comes forward a little too much and completely misses his recovery. Yusuf Yazici recovers and tries to lob the Spanish goalkeeper with first intention but finally finds the crossbar. OM then had very few chances in the first period and returned to the locker room after a first period to the advantage of LOSC.

From the start of the second half, the Lille midfielder started again on the same basis and dictated the game. Kosovar Edon Zhegrova caused enormous harm to the Marseille defense but lacked realism in the face of Lopez’s goal. Same observation for Amine Harit, who had the opportunity to open the scoring for OM at the end of the match but who missed it. At the end of a match where the defenses were very well grouped and where the attackers lacked realism, Marseille and Lille parted ways with a goalless draw.

This result is clearly not satisfactory for OM who find themselves eighth at the end of these 90 minutes. For their part, the Mastiffs remain in fourth place in the standings and are getting closer to the podium.
