ASCOLI The title of European City of Sport opens up new scenarios. Facilities, innovative projects, events, paralympic sport: Arengo prepares the revolution. The Carlo Vittori Sports Citadel will be completed: after the restyling of the athletics track, a hall dedicated to artistic gymnastics and a fitness trail, an outdoor physical training circuit, from the swimming pool to the school field, are coming. «The finish line is a real sports campus – reveals councilor Domenico Stallone -. We achieved one of the best victories. We are proud. It’s not only thanks to us, but to the entire sporting world.”

The velodrome
There are many projects in the drawer: work has begun on the velodrome in Campolungo to create the large bicycle park: it will be a point of reference where the national team meetings will also be hosted. And one of the most awaited news: «Within a month there will be the definitive exchange of the Zannoni Area, where rugby and baseball fields will be built, with new changing rooms and new systems» adds Stallone. In the immediate future there will also be a roof for the structure where the archers train, a new look for the former Sauc building as well as the necessary maintenance work on the existing systems.
The Paralympic sector
Particular attention is also paid to Paralympic sport. «We will create the best conditions for practice and accessibility within the structures» claims the councilor. But the newly obtained title will bring new opportunities and advantages to the city. The future vision will, for example, allow for a better outcome in tenders thanks to the forms of certification and will allow access to more subsidized financing, given the close relationship with Sports Credit. Events linked to the investments of important international sponsors are planned. «We will have a preferential route in relations with the federations. There will be new possibilities – underlines Stallone -. I think of the matches of the national rugby teams and the Italian football teams. Sports Minister Andrea Abodi complimented the result: he will be here with us soon.” A strong collaboration is also in sight with Naples, the European capital of sport 2026 and the rest of Europe: just to give an example, yesterday the Quintana made a fine show in Milan, tomorrow the Neapolitan capital could be a stage for excellence sports from Ascoli. There are already other ideas in light.
Training
Training will continue with the first aid course, which saw the participation of 230 instructors, necessary to deal with any type of emergency during a race or training. The city of Cento Torri will then become a model for telemedicine: with the athletes of the Monticelli sports group there will be a remote monitoring program for health conditions. The data will be stored in a database. «A useful tool for prevention and evidence of the benefits of correct sporting activity – explains Stallone -. It will be a cutting-edge project in the Marche region, among the first in Italy.”
