Analyst Marciano Vink Criticizes Ajax’s Performance Against Brighton

Marciano Vink does not think that Ajax and John van ‘t Schip deserve all the praise. The analyst is critical of the play of the Amsterdam team, which was not very impressive against Brighton.

“Brighton is not crazy either and at one point started playing one-on-one, which made it very difficult for Ajax to play through it. The picture changed and Brighton became stronger. Ajax’s substitution actually played into Brighton’s hands. I understand that you want to bring in Akpom and force something, but what you had went well. I had chosen to bring in Akpom later,” says Vink on ESPN.

However, Vink is also positive. “I think Josip Šutalo is a kind of indicator. He plays better football and makes more logical choices. He no longer wants to lose the ball rather than rich it. There are a number of players who are now emerging. They show that they have the quality that people saw in them. It’s just not enough as a team. There are still repetitive things that go wrong, that also has to do with quality.”

There were also positive points. “A number of times we managed to release Hlynsson very well in midfield. It is a pity that not much came out after that. This also has to do with the fact that the two wingers did not give way and Brobbey was busy battling with Van Hecke.”
