Águilas del Zulia Secure Victory with Strong Relief Pitching in 5-1 Win Over Leones del Caracas

The Águilas del Zulia had great work from their relievers and defeated the Leones del Caracas 5-1 in the second of the series at the Luis Aparicio “El Grande”.

After four blank innings, Águilas scored the first run of the game in the fifth inning. Osleivis Basabe singled to bring Jackson Chourio to the plate.

It didn’t take long for Leones to tie the score. Double by José Rondón, hit by Aldrem Corredor grounded for second by Eliezer Alfonzo put the game at 1-1.

Eduardo Torrealba put Zulia ahead again with a hit to right field in the sixth that drove in Bryant Flete.

The Zulian offense continued the production with a three-point rally in the seventh. Two singles, a walk, a hit and Luis Castro capping the inning with a triple, made the game 5-1.

Silvino Bracho closed a great job by the Águilas relievers by throwing a scoreless ninth inning. The Zulian relief team allowed just three hits and one run in five and a third innings of work.

Eiberson Castellano (1-1) claimed the victory with two innings of work in which he allowed one hit and struck out two rivals. Bryan Blanton (1-1) was the loser, receiving a run in a pitched third.

With this victory, Águilas is now 12-11, while Leones leaves its record at 16-7.
