On a night with a full, cool moon, lots of youth and great joy, the forty-sixth Departmental Sports Games of Antioquia were inaugurated at the Santiago Santacruz Rambay stadium in Apartadó.
The opening event was accompanied by artistic, cultural and musical manifestations, typical of the subregion, lights and videos that enlivened the event, attended by athletes, coaches, delegates, judging authorities, managers and civil and sports authorities from the municipalities of Apartad. and Chigorodó and the department.
The welcome greeting was given by Felipe Benicio Cañizales Palacios, mayor of Apartadó, who expressed: “We are happy to have, here, 112 of the 125 municipalities of the department. And, particularly, because I have enjoyed the Departmental Sports Games from different roles. “I enjoyed them as a journalist for many years, then as manager of Imder and now at the close of our government period.”
For his part, Carlos Ignacio Uribe Tirado, manager of Indeportes Antioquia, stated that there will be two weeks of great joy and brotherhood, where sport, recreation and physical activity will be the vehicle for social transformation. He further commented: “We are delivering a powerful message to the entire department and the country, and it is the ability that Urabá has to hold great events. And this is showing that Urabá not only dreams of the National Sports Games and Paranationals, but he loves them and is prepared”.
The 46th Departmental Sports Games of Antioquia, which will begin competitions this Tuesday, November 28 at 7:30 a.m. in Chigorodó with baseball and ultimate, and in Apartadó at 8:00 a.m., will run until December 10.
The contest will hold tournaments in 31 sports: underwater activities, chess, archery, adapted athletics, conventional athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, baseball, boxing, BMX cycling, road cycling, mountain biking, indoor soccer, futsal, soccer, judo, karate-do, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming, adaptive swimming, skating, rugby, taekwondo, shuffleboard, field tennis, table tennis, ultimate, floor volleyball and beach volleyball. The previous sports disciplines will take place, some in Apartadó and others in Chigorodó.
This Tuesday, November 28, archery, adapted athletics, women’s and men’s basketball, handball in both branches, karate-do, weightlifting, field tennis and table tennis will begin in Apartadó. For its part, badminton, baseball, men’s soccer and mixed ultimate will break out in Chigorodó. In summary, the games begin with 13 sports: eight in Apartadó and five in Chigorodó.
