The schedule and venue for the finals of the 106th National High School Baseball Championship South/North Hokkaido Tournament (sponsored by the Hokkaido High School Baseball Federation and Asahi Shimbun) were decided on the 22nd at a board meeting of the Hokkaido High School Baseball Federation.
The Southern Tournament will begin on July 11, 2024 at Sapporo Maruyama Stadium. A total of three matches, the semi-finals on the 20th and the finals on the 21st, will be held at Esconfield Hokkaido (Kitahiroshima City), just like this summer. The North Tournament begins on the 13th. Semi-finals on the 22nd, finals on the 23rd. The entire schedule will be held at Asahikawa Starkhin Stadium. The dates for each district tournament will be decided next spring.
This summer’s 105th tournament commemorated the opening of Nippon-Ham professional baseball’s new stadium, and a total of six games, including the semifinals and finals, were held at Escon Field Hokkaido for both the North and South tournaments.
The Hokkaido National Federation of High School Athletic Associations has considered whether to hold the tournament at the same stadium from next summer onwards, and the Northern Tournament has decided to send the schools participating in Koshien from the stadium in the northern area. The Southern Tournament will use Esconfield Hokkaido for about three years, and will reconsider its future implementation. It is said that there is a possibility that it will be used in the commemorative tournament held every five years at the Northern Conference.
It has also been decided that the spring Hokkaido tournament will be held from May 22nd to 28th at Sapporo Maruyama Stadium, and the fall Hokkaido tournament will be held from October 16th to 24th at Sapporo Dome.
Next season as well, if a game is interrupted due to rain or other reasons, we will introduce a continuation game that will be continued the next day, and we will also use a tie-break after 10 extra innings.
