Will Levis Shines as Rookie QB with Record-Breaking Debut for the Tennessee Titans

The first two quarterbacks drafted in the 2023 Draft were Bryce Young and CJ Stroud, by the Carolina Panthers and the Houston Texans, respectively. However, the rookie QB with the best performance in Week 8 was Will Levis, of the Tennessee Titans, drafted with the second overall pick of the second round.

The University of Kentucky graduate took the reins of the Titans’ offense due to Ryan Tannehill’s injury and responded to the confidence of head coach Mike Vrabel with a demonstration of four touchdown passes after completing 19 passes for 238 to win 28 -23 to the Atlanta Falcons. Three of Levis’ four touchdowns were on connections with veteran DeAndre Hopkins. The other was with Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

Levis attempted to run seven times and his highest run was a five-yard run. In total, the first-year QB finished with 11 yards in his NFL debut. The rookie’s scoring throws were for great yardage since Westbrook-Ikhine’s went for 33 yards while two of Hopkins’ three TDs went for 61 and 47 yards, respectively.

With this performance against the Falcons, Levis became the third quarterback in NFL history to throw four touchdown passes in his debut. The other two were Fran Tarkentonwith the Minnesota Vikings in 1961, and Marcus Mariota also with the Titans, but in 2015.
