Why Clemens Tönnies is of no help

Early on Tuesday evening, Clemens Tönnies had probably not heard of the scenario that had been mused about in a conversation between Schalke’s CFO Christina Rühl-Hamers and journalists the previous afternoon.

The question was whether it would be legally possible to give the Revier club, which is threatened with relegation to the third division, a monetary gift, for example five million euros. That is possible, said Rühl-Hamers after some consideration.

In the evening, Tönnies stood on the red carpet in front of the cinema, where his friend Christoph Daum was presenting a film about his life, and took a swipe at his old club, which he led for a long time as chairman of the supervisory board. After his resignation, he “offered to help often enough” and “sometimes didn’t get any answers at all.”
