The Red Bull Racing team is having a strong season in Formula 1. Max Verstappen won the constructors’ title for the team and he himself won the world title in Qatar. The performance of his teammate Sergio Perez is quite disappointing and Verstappen doesn’t quite know what to think about this.
While Verstappen won race after race, Perez fell through the ice. The Mexican was struggling with his car and he didn’t seem to quite know what was going on. He dropped out several times in the second part of qualifying and that meant that he was mainly busy catching up. He could not really compete with his teammate Max Verstappen for the world title. There are even rumors going around about Perez’s future at Red Bull.
Perez still has a Red Bull contract until the end of 2024, but the question is what Red Bull will do. Verstappen knows his teammate’s situation, but he does not want to say too much about it. In conversation with Servus TV he is clear: “Ultimately it is a hard sport. We are teammates and we work well together, that was also the case with Alex and Pierre. Ultimately you have to perform. Of course it is difficult to say why certain things happen the way they do.”
