The Berlin Volleys won the three-day Volleyball Supercup tournament in Hildesheim. In the final on Sunday, the defending champion defeated arch-rivals VfB Friedrichshafen 3-0 (25:21, 25:22, 25:18).

In front of 1,530 spectators, the Czech national player Marek Sotola in particular was unstoppable by the opponent. The diagonal volley attacker scored 20 points alone. The second best scorer for the winner was the Frenchman Timothee Carle with 13 points.

The Friedrichshafen team proved to be tough opponents in the first two sets. It was only in the final section that the Berliners dominated and pulled away with six points at 14:8. The BR Volleys once again demonstrated their strengths in the serve. They got seven aces, the Friedrichshafen team only got two.

Conciliatory conclusion for the Netzhoppers

The Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee managed a conciliatory end to the tournament. After two sobering defeats, the Brandenburg team prevailed in their last game in the placement round against TSV Haching Munich 2-0 (26:24, 25:18).

The Netzhoppers made fewer mistakes than in previous games, which led to a more confident appearance. “We didn’t give up hope. We knew: Haching didn’t perform the best over the weekend either. They also have a lot of injured and sick people and we tried to take advantage of that,” said Netzhoppers captain Djifa Amedegnato after the game.

The Supercup was the last acid test before the upcoming Bundesliga season. This begins for both the Volleys and the Netzhoppers on Friday, October 27th. Königs Wusterhausen has to compete in Lüneburg (7 p.m.). The Berliners welcome Giesen (8 p.m.).
