VIDEO ⟩ Boxing champion Fury defeats UFC star Ngannou in a fierce fight

With the boxers not fighting for Fury’s world championship belts, the Mexican judge Juan Carlos Pelayo gave the Briton a 96-93 victory and the American Ellen Krebs 95-94, while the Canadian Ed Garner gave his compatriot a 95-94 victory.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Ngannou not only lasted ten rounds, but also came close to pulling off an upset in his debut as he knocked Fury down in the third round of the fight.

“This was not planned. Francis is an excellent fighter – a strong, powerful puncher and a much better boxer than we imagined,” Fury said.

The 35-year-old Fury has fought 35 fights in boxing, winning 34 of them, 24 of them by knockout. Two years older than Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion, the MMA record is 17 wins and three losses.

Also in Saudi Arabia in the coming months, Fury and Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk will hold a fight that will combine all four of the most prestigious championship belts in the heavyweight division.

Fury is the World Boxing Council (WBC) champion. Meanwhile, Usyk holds championship belts in the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Organization (IBO) versions.
