Universo Prato Judo Club Celebrates Success in Italian Qualification Championships

Great satisfactions again for the Universo Prato Judo Club. In Follonica, in the competition valid as qualification for the Italian Absolute A2 championships, the Prato club won two prestigious medals, with Andrea Macrì and Lorenzo Malirder. For Malirder, who fought in the 81 kg category, the path was complicated after being defeated in the first match. The athlete from Prato still managed to rise from the bottom of the rankings and reach bronze, which however was not sufficient to access the Italians, a privilege reserved only for finalists. Andrea Macrì’s return to competition after three years was positive, however, as he reached the final, winning the silver medal and the pass to the final stages of the Italian A2 absolute championships, scheduled for Saturday 21 October in Montichiari. The next commitment for the team led by Beppe Macrì will be the day after tomorrow, at the 17th “Macaluso” Trophy, which will take place in Figline and Incisa Valdarno.
