Harley Davidsons were his passion. A love he had cultivated all his life. Due to the tragic twist of a mocking fate, it was precisely while riding one of those two-wheeled racing cars that Davide Alfano, a 53-year-old originally from Salerno (above), met his death. The centaur, resident in Argenta for some years, lost his life at 8pm on Friday on State Road 16. He was traveling towards Argenta when, at the roundabout leading to the town, he lost control of the motorbike and crashed on the road. ‘asphalt. Some motorists traveling along the Adriatica raised the alarm. The Carabinieri and 118 health workers intervened on site, but any attempt at resuscitation was useless. An investigation into the accident has been opened for vehicular homicide against unknown persons (the 53-year-old was alone and there were no other vehicles involved). The prosecutor’s office will order an autopsy and a kinematic consultation to clarify the dynamics.
Alfano had lived in Argenta for a couple of years and worked as an Oss at the ‘Manica’ retirement home. “Early in the morning – says the director Stefano Montagnani – we learned the sad news from his family, which saddened us. We all, managers, operators and guests, remember him with great affection and esteem: a good man, a resource for our structure. Unfortunately he is gone forever.” The neighbors on Via Borgo Seliciata also speak fondly of him. “On the very day of his tragic death – recalls one of the residents – we said goodbye around 4pm, when he got on his motorbike. Davide didn’t like speed. In fact, he liked to go slowly, to enjoy the landscape. It was left for Ferrara to take part in an event between centaurs. That was the last time I saw him and we exchanged greetings”. Some time ago, Alfano had also worked abroad, in Canada, in the catering sector. He also had talent as a carpenter and artistic wood carver. In Salerno, his hometown, he leaves behind his ex-wife and two daughters with whom he shared a passion for archery.
