Toronto Blue Jays Secure Playoff Spot with Loss to Seattle Mariners

Thanks to a 6-1 defeat by the Seattle Mariners against the Texas Rangers on Saturday night, the Blue Jays pocketed their ticket to the playoffs in major baseball.

The Seattle team was never in the game, but the third inning was fatal, with them allowing three points. The Mariners will end their season on Sunday against the Rangers.

Things started off badly for the Jays

However, Saturday’s day got off to a bad start for the Toronto club, who lost 7 to 5 against the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the afternoon at the Rogers Center.

Currently, the Toronto organization ranks second among the teams drafted in the American.

In the duel against the Rays, the Blue Jays escaped in the 10th inning. The visitors took advantage of the generosity of gunner Jordan Hicks (3-9) to score three points.

Back on offense for a final chance, manager John Schneider’s squad came within two points thanks to a double from Bo Bichette. However, it was too little too late.

Trailing by two after their rivals’ first three at-bats, the Blue Jays opened their score in the third inning. Daulton Varsho hit a solo homer to cut the lead in half.

The latter also produced the second and third points of his team. In the fourth, he started a three-run surge by sending Alejandro Kirk and Kevin Kiermaier to the plate with a single. George Springer produced the other crowd favorite hit.

An inning later, Harold Ramirez threw a shot from reliever Trevor Richards out of bounds, while his teammate Randy Arozarena was already occupying the trails. The bomb from the 29-year-old Colombian thus brought everyone back to the same level.

The Jays’ regular season will end with the last of a three-game series against the Rays.
