Il San Giuseppe Artistic High School Of Grottaferrata had the honor of being at the center of a day dedicated to culture and the environment, promoted by Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, Galleria Continua and Tevereterno.

On the morning of October 11th, the students participated in a workshop on the quay of Ponte Sisto, where they had the opportunity to express their artistic vision, imagining and representing a Tiber of the future. Gathered inside the Third Paradisethe symbol created by the very famous Michelangelo Pistolettoand formed by the 100 Benches for Rome, the boys created a joint work, then exhibited on the river walls.

In the afternoon, guests of the famous and historic hotel The St. Regis, the students visited JR’s exhibition, currently on display in the Galleria Continua. As an internationally renowned author, JR breaks perspectives and brings the observer into the scene of his own works. Not only an art lesson of the highest level, therefore, but also the opportunity to participate in three historic performances by Pistoletto: “Spectators”, “Conference” and “Rays of People”. Under the careful guidance of Francesco Saverio Teruzzi, the students gave rise to moments of collective action and reflection, questioning the traditional relationship between spectator and work of art, and proposing new interpretations and perspectives.

Rays of People took place in an ancient hotel room with large glass doors, which also allowed local guests to observe the interweaving of threads of different colors and the eighty participating students. The work thus created was then donated by the Foundation to the San Giuseppe Art School and will be exhibited in the school’s art gallery.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Città dell’Arte, to the director of The St. Regis, to the Galleria Continua and Tevereterno” These are the words of the School Director, Dr. Elettra Flavia Casali Iampieri: “We have experienced an intense day from the point of cultural view, with a strong participation from our students and teachers. I also thank Francesco Saverio Teruzzi, whose availability and professionalism accompanied us once again on the art scene. Finally, I would like to address a special thought to Maestro Michelangelo Pistoletto: Fifty years later, these performances are not only very timely but reveal themselves to be the starting point for new reflections and emotions, both for those who observe and for those who participate. It was a great honor to be here and I am sure that it will be an indelible memory for all our kids.”
