The National Team Remains One Test Match in Germany Before Competing in the U-17 World Cup

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian U-17 national team only needs to play one trial match in Germany before returning to Indonesia to take part in the U-17 World Cup championship. Based on PSSI’s official statement, reported on Thursday (19/10/2023), the Garuda Muda team only needs to undergo one more trial against FC Koln.

While undergoing training camp in Germany in preparation for the 2023 U-17 World Cup, the U-17 national team has undergone six trials. In these trial matches, the Garuda Muda Team lost three times, won two and drew once.

The defeat suffered by the U-17 national team in the trial match against TSV Meerbusch U-17 with a score of 0-1, then lost to Eintracht Frankfurt U-19 with a score of 0-3, and was defeated by Mainz U-19 with a score of 0-3.

Meanwhile, the other two matches ended in victory, namely winning with a score of 1-0 against SC Paderborn U-17 and U-19 and 2-1 when they beat VFL Osnabruerck U-19.

In the sixth match, the U-17 Indonesian National Team drew 1-1 with SV Meppen U-17 in a trial match played at the SV Hemsen field, Meppen, Germany, Tuesday night.

Bima Sakti’s national team previously conceded the first goal 0-1 in the 80th minute. However, entering the 90th minute Amar Rayhan Brkic was able to equalize to make the match end in a 1-1 draw.

In the sixth match, U-17 national team defender Tonci Shouter assessed that he and his teammates had tried hard even though they still had to correct a number of mistakes.

“We worked hard in the match. But I think there was a lot of evaluation because there were many basic mistakes made, such as passing and control, which must be corrected for the future,” said Tonci.

Meanwhile, Amar, who is a scorer, expressed his joy at being able to contribute a goal.

“I felt very happy after scoring the first goal for Indonesia. It was very emotional for me, I couldn’t control my feelings. It was extraordinary for me,” said Amar.

Previously, PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said that Garuda Muda players would arrive in Indonesia two weeks before the U-17 World Cup matches started, so that they could adapt to the temperature conditions in the country.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup will be held on 10 November-2 December 2023 at four stadiums including Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (SJH), Bandung Regency at Manahan Stadium Solo, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium ( GBT) Surabaya.
