Tennis professional Jenson Brooksby has been banned for 18 months for missing doping tests. The American’s provisional suspension was confirmed by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). The 22-year-old will not be allowed to take part in tournaments again until January 2025. Brooksby is accused of violating whereabouts reporting requirements. Players are obliged to inform the anti-doping authorities of their whereabouts. If athletes violate these reporting requirements for unannounced doping tests three times within 18 months, this will result in a ban.

The Californian had admitted to missing a first and third doping test. However, he had challenged the accuracy of the second test, which he was said to have missed. The ITIA rejected this. “After considering the evidence, the court concluded that Brooksby bore a high degree of culpability for the missed test,” it said in a statement.
