The Telekom Baskets Bonn have qualified for the cup quarter-finals of the Basketball Bundesliga. The Rhinelanders defeated MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg away with 80:79 (34:46) – despite a 16-point deficit in the second half. Savion Flagg (11 points) hit the game-winning basket in the final second.

The Bonn team started weakly, missed their first ten three-pointers and were behind 34:46 at halftime. Three minutes before the end of the third quarter, Ludwigsburg had pulled away to a 16-point difference. Glynn Watson (21 points) led Bonn back and gave the guests the lead. However, the playmaker lost the ball eleven seconds before the end, and Ludwigsburg’s Jayvon Graves scored eight seconds before the end for a 79:78 lead. Savion Flagg tapped a missed throw from Watson into the basket 0.9 seconds before the end of the game to give Bonn the win.

Also Ulm and Chemnitz

With a 76:72 (44:32) away win against the Würzburg Baskets, ratiopharm Ulm also moved into the quarterfinals. The German champions took the momentum into the locker room with a 16-2 run at the end of the second quarter and were in the lead by 14 points eight minutes before the end of the game. Würzburg came back and equalized 72:72 in the final phase. But Ulm’s LJ Figueroa (19 points) hit the game-winning basket with 13 seconds on the clock.

The Niners Chemnitz eliminated the only second division team represented in the round of 16 and defeated the Jobstairs Gießen 46ers at home with 89:64 (49:30). The Saxons never trailed once and the hosts forced 24 turnovers throughout the game. Kaza Kajami-Keane led Chemnitz with 24 points.
