SZ formality: Get out of the chair – exercise

Lisa Furtwängler: …my absolute passion!

Your current fitness level?

Very fit. I notice this especially when I walk effortlessly up the stairs at the train station and hear people breathing loudly next to me.

Rim upswing or retreat?

Rim rise to briefly feel like Simone Biles.

Was physical education for you?

My favorite two hours of class every week. Whether it was dodgeball, soccer, gymnastics, I loved it all. I was able to move freely and not have to be stuck in a chair.

Your personal record?

When I won the Sports Woman of the University Award at Cambridge. Each year only one woman and one man from the entire university receive it. The only trophy I still have from my school and university days.

Stadium visit or TV athlete?

Formerly a stadium visitor, now more comfortable at home in front of the screen, where you can see everything better. With slow motion and repetitions.

Bavaria or Sixty?

Absolutely, Bavaria.

Your eternal sports idol?

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Serena Williams.

A formative experience?

The final at home against Chelsea in 2012 was terrible. I’ll never forget how depressed I was after losing on penalties. And then it was all the more beautiful and memorable when we won the trophy in London a year later.

In which discipline would you be an Olympic champion?

Football in the summer, cross-country skiing in the winter.

Which athlete would you like to swap jerseys with?

Mit Novak Djokovic.

Under the “Formsache” section, the SZ asks people every week about their affinity for sport. Artists, politicians, captains of industry – just not athletes. It would be boring.
