Why the prison sentence? Davis is said to have been involved in a large-scale fraud along with over 20 people.

The trick: Fake invoices were submitted to the NBA’s pension fund for former professionals via participating doctors and dentists. So they stole over five million dollars.

Davis filed claims totaling $132,000. But that included an allegation that he received $27,200 worth of dental care at a Beverly Hills dentist’s office on October 2, 2018.

A blatant lie, as it later turned out. The authorities located his cell phone. Davis was in Las Vegas at the time and flew to Paris the same day.

His lawyer, Sabrina Shroff, declined to comment on the conviction. At 40 months he is still doing very well. He was even threatened with 20 years in prison.

Davis won the title with the Celtics in 2008. He then played for the Orlando Magic and LA Clippers.

The group’s leader, ex-NBA player Terrance Williams, was even sentenced to 10 years in prison. He is said to have received relief from his sentence after he spilled some names. Will Bynum, another former NBA professional, was given an 18-month prison sentence a month ago. The ominous dentist has to go to prison for three years.
