As the first president of Reebok’s basketball business, the former NBA star will lead the brand’s basketball strategy and develop partnerships with athletes and organizations.

The collaboration between Reebok and O’Neal dates back to 1992, when the basketball player made his NBA debut wearing Reebok footwear.

Since then, Shaquille O’Neal has remained in close contact with the American sports equipment manufacturer, in particular by investing in its parent company Authentic Brands Group, which bought Reebok from Adidas for 2.46 billion dollars (2.34 billion euros ) in 2022, on the initiative of the NBA legend, who is the second largest shareholder of the group.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Shaquille through this historic appointment. As an athlete, she has left an incredible mark not only on our brand, but on the entire sport and culture of basketball,” said Todd Krinsky, CEO of Reebok.

“Given his close ties to Reebok and the influence he has had on the sport, there is no one better than him to lead our brand and bring it back to reclaiming its rightful place and dominance in the basketball universe.” .

Along with O’Neal, Reebok has named another former basketball star, Allen Iverson, to the position of vice president of Reebok Basketball. In his expanded role within Reebok, Iverson will contribute to player recruiting, local and community initiatives and athlete activities.

The creation of these new positions follows Reebok’s announcement earlier this month of its intention to focus on team sports and its global commitment to elite basketball.
