Facts and figures about the state championships in Eferding

Carinthia was the only federal state not to have a club represented in Eferding. Compared to the last state championship, on October 1, 2022 in Weiz, Styria, participation has increased by a whopping 35 percent. 48 women and 80 men took part; 64 women and 110 men are expected in Upper Austria this weekend.

The largest contingents of athletes from the 40 clubs are UJZ Mühlviertel, M&R Galaxy Judo Tigers and ESV Sanjindo Bischofshofen.

The youngest starter is 15-year-old Gabriel Schörg (Judokids Awiar/W) and the oldest starter is 40-year-old Daniel Maß (Union Eichfeld/ST) – both compete in the category up to 73 kg, so they could also meet each other.

The -73 kilogram class is quantitatively the best among men with 26 starters – among women it is the category up to 63 kilograms with 14 participants. The -90 kg class is undoubtedly the highest class: with the European Championship starters Wachid Borchashvili, Adam Borchashvilli, Thomas Scharfetter as well as the young talents Aslan Papoyan and Bernd Fasching, a quintet is fighting for the title and podium places. The defending champions have announced their presence in no less than eleven of 14 weight classes.

What is prevented are:

Rosalie Wöss (-63/Askö Reichraming/Upper Austria) Elena Dengg (-70/ESV Sanjindo Bischofshofen/S) Lukas Reiter (-73/JC Wimpassing Sparkasse/Lower Austria)

General information:
On Saturday the 14 individual competitions are on the program from 9:30 a.m., followed on Sunday by the mixed team competitions in the general class and under 16 year olds from 10:30 a.m. There are seven teams in each mixed team championship.

To the ladies
In the women’s heavyweight division (+78), only two participants are named: Maria Höllwart (ESV Sanjindo Bischofshofen/S) and Helene Schrattenholzer (Judounion Klosterneuburg/Lower Austria). The final for gold has already been decided. If Maria Höllwart wins, it would be her third championship title in a row. The men also have a starter in Movli Borchashvilli (+100/M&R Galaxy Tigers/W), who could be crowned (state) champion for the third time in a row.
