In our issue 86, we went to meet the Serbian journalist to ask him some key questions concerning the GOAT and in particular that concerning his future retirement.
“In my opinion, the most important factor that will influence his decision to “hang up the racket on a nail in the wall” – as they say in Serbia – will be his family and his children, and his natural need, as a father, to spend more and more time with them. On this point, I completely agree with his father, Srdjan, who said this a few months ago. Novak is a man who has changed since becoming a father, which makes sense. These are natural processes, more powerful than any other need, which fulfill Novak in a very visible way. At the Turin Masters last year, there wasn’t a single change of side where he didn’t look towards his family and wave or flash a smile at his children. It is therefore, in my opinion, the most important factor which will influence his decision to leave the Tour.
