Rugby: Racing 92 has already lost its Fijian star recruit Josua Tuisova, injured and absent for several months

Racing will have to wait many months to benefit from one of its star recruits. Affected during the quarter-final against England (24-30) on Sunday, Fijian three-quarter center Josua Tuisova suffers from a “serious sprain of the left knee” and will be away from the field “several months”, announced the club of Hauts-de-Seine in a press release on Thursday.

Tuisova will undergo surgery “in the coming days,” the club said. At 29, the Fijian was one of the leaders of the new Racing project, after four very successful years spent in Lyon. The center, bereaved by the loss of his 7-year-old son at the beginning of the month, should therefore miss part of the Top 14 season, which resumes on October 29 with a trip to Montpellier.

In his position, Racing has a few other elements, such as Francis Saili, Olivier Klemenczak, the historic Henry Chavancy or the young Junior Tabuavou. Just eliminated from the World Cup, Gaël Fickou will be “too fair” to challenge the MHR according to the chairman of the board Laurent Travers. Other major recruits, such as the South African Siya Kolisi or the Englishman Henry Arundell, still involved in the World Cup, would join the club later.
