RSC Anderlecht Secures 1-0 Victory in Practice Match Against Beerschot

RSC Anderlecht played a practice match against Beerschot at 11am at Neerpede. The people of Brussels managed to get the 1-0 victory over the line after a very poor first and better second half. At RSCA, a player made his return after weeks of injuries.

At Anderlecht they started with Dupé, N’Diaye, Lissens, Patris, Moutha-Sebtaoui, Rits, Lonwijk, Flips, Hazard, Vazquez and Raman in the starting line-up. We were especially looking forward to Lonwijk’s performance and that of Flips. The latter was given a chance as a central midfielder.

Moderate Flips

Beerschot immediately took control of the match and played strongly. Dupé had to make the first save. RSCA responded with a great heading opportunity for Vazquez, but he headed wide. The visitors remained the dominant team and hit the post before fifteen minutes. Anderlecht played smoothly, without any real pressure on the opponent and without ideas, Beerschot performed very well.

Lonwijk was one of the most active players among the people of Brussels. That could not be said of Flips, who showed little drive for action. He certainly did not focus on Riemer in that first half. The Frenchman will have to regroup if he wants to play more. Hazard was also barely in the picture.

Anderlecht simply played a very poor first half, although the last ten minutes were of better quality. After a good cross from Hazard, Raman headed a good chance wide, Beerschot also shot wide.

Ashimeru celebrates return

In the second period Dreyer, Leoni and Angulo came into the team. Hazard, Rits and Raman stayed inside. Football went a lot better with Leoni in midfield. A clever attack was just not completed by Angulo. The Purple & White had more of the ball and were a lot more threatening. Dreyer served Vazquez and he headed over very narrowly. The Dane was very active and also put the Antwerp goalkeeper to work.

Beerschot then made six substitutions. Twenty minutes before the end, Vazquez (who previously hit the post) ran off with the ball and the Argentinian calmly scored the 1-0 goal. A goal like on Eupen. Well done from the striker.

Afterwards, Majeed Ashimeru was allowed to make his return after weeks of absence. Another extra option for Riemer in midfield. Robbie Ure and Alonzo Engwanda also came on. It remained 1-0.
