Rinov Rivaldi/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari lost to Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino in the second round of the 2022 Asian Games (2023) at Binjiang Gymnasium, Wednesday (4/10).

The only Indonesian mixed doubles pair remaining in the individual badminton event at the Asian Games is trying to show their best performance from the start of the match.

Yuta/Arisa have anticipated Rinov/Pitha’s game. The second seed from Japan appeared quite solid in defense and attack. Rinov/Pitha also got into trouble.

Even though they were able to get points, Rinov/Pitha were unable to catch up with their opponents. In the first game, the world number 16 pair lost 17-21.

Rinov/Pitha were not afraid to face the Japanese pair who had beaten them six times in previous meetings.

The PBSI national training pair played Yuta/Arisa’s fast game, but the opponents also adapted to the abilities of Rinov/Pitha who tried to perform optimally.

Yuta/Arisa’s attacks made the Japanese pair gain points which made Rinov/Pitha lose 13-21.

This defeat meant that Indonesia no longer had representatives in the mixed doubles number. Previously, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati had lost in the first round when they met Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s representatives in the badminton arena who competed from Wednesday (4/10) morning to afternoon also lost. Putri Kusuma Wardani and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi were unable to advance to the next round.
