Remembering Jim Poole: A Lost Star of the Sports World

The sports world mourns the loss of a star. Jim Poole began his great baseball career in 1990 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He then played for many well-known clubs before retiring from baseball in 2000. Two years ago, however, the athlete received the shock diagnosis of ALS – which has now cost him his life. Jim passed away a few days ago.

Jim died on Friday surrounded by his family. This was reported by ESPN. “We are saddened by the passing of former MLB pitcher Jim Poole at the age of 57,” Major League Baseball said in a statement on social media, adding: “Our thoughts are with Jim’s family and friends.” He is survived by his wife Kim, three children and two grandchildren.

“It broke my heart this morning to learn of Jim Poole’s passing. He was a first-class husband, father and teammate,” Georgia Tech head baseball coach Danny Hall said in his own statement. “He loved Georgia Tech and was there for our coaches and players for many years. He embodied the meaning of a Tech Man. God rest his soul.”
