The port of Iquique recorded a notable increase in its activity during the first eight months of 2023. According to reports, the port moved a total of 2,002,085 tons during this period, exceeding the 1,793,234 tons recorded in the same period in 2022 This marks a year-on-year increase of 11.6%.

Exports have also seen significant growth, with a total of 405,008 tonnes recorded so far this year, representing a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. In August 2023, a total of 66,661 tons were exported, 35% more than in the same month of the previous year.

Imports have also increased considerably, reaching 811,612 tonnes between January and August 2023, representing an increase of 23% compared to the 660,136 tonnes recorded in 2022.

These data reflect the growing relevance of the port of Iquique as a key point for the entry and exit of goods in the region.
