Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves Show Solidarity with Israel Following Terrorist Attack

The Philadelphia Phillies held a moment of silence for the victims of the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel before Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.

After the game, the Phillies lit Citizens Bank Park blue and white to show their support for the people of Israel.

“The Phillies condemn the recent egregious acts of terrorism in Israel and the tragic loss of so many innocent lives. We cry for all those who have lost loved ones, we pray for those who are still missing or held hostage and, above all, we hope for peace. To show our unwavering support for the people of Israel, we illuminate our house in blue and white,” the team wrote on their X account, formerly known as Twitter.

The Braves joined in the expression of support and released a video of the moment of silence before the game.

“The Atlanta Braves join the Phillies and Major League Baseball in mourning the lives lost in Israel and praying for the safe return of those missing. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by the horrific violence,” the team wrote.

Major League Baseball (MLB) was one of several professional sports leagues that expressed support for Israel following the murderous attack by Hamas.

“We mourn for all those who lost their loved ones and pray for the injured, their caregivers and those still searching for their family and friends. “We condemn these acts of hate and violence and are heartbroken for the people of Israel,” MLB stated on Monday.

On Sunday, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) said they “regret the horrific loss of life in Israel and condemn these acts of terrorism.”

“We stand in solidarity with the people of Israel and pray for peace throughout the region,” the statement added.

The National Football League (NFL) also issued a statement saying: “The NFL mourns the loss of innocent lives in Israel and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism.”

“The depravity of these acts is beyond comprehension, and we mourn with the families of the dead, injured and missing. “We pray for peace and we will always oppose the evils of hate,” the statement added.
