Snow groomers and excavators are preparing the “Gran Becca” ski slope on Wednesday for the first edition of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Zermatt.

The excavator is standing in the middle of the Theodul glacier near Zermatt. His shovel slowly digs into the brown-colored glacier ice, leaving a sharp edge behind. The excavator prepares the downhill slope for the Ski World Cup, the “Gran Becca”. Zermatt wanted to shine internationally with this. But that still seems uncertain.
