Ons Jabeur had to pull out of the tournament after her win.
At the WTA 500 event in Zhengzhou, where Laura Siegemund won in three sets against Luidmila Samsonova at the beginning of the day, Ons Jabeur was also able to make it into the quarter-finals. The Tunisian won against Lucia Bronzetti in two sets 6:3, 7:6(5). Daria Kasatkina would have been waiting in the round of the last eight, defeating wildcard participant Zhouxuan Bai 6:2, 6:4. However, Jabeur subsequently announced that she would not be taking part in the quarter finals due to a knee injury.
Also in the round of the last eight is Barbora Krejcikova, who only gave Petra Martic a chance in the first set at 7:5, 6:1. The next opponent is qualifier Lesia Tsurenko.
Pegula casually out and about in Seoul
Jessica Pegula, who favored the 250 tournament in Seoul this week, didn’t have much to do on the court in the 6:3, 6:1 win against her US compatriot Ashlyn Krueger. At the significantly weaker tournament in the capital of South Korea, the top seed, Claire Liu, will again face a compatriot in the quarter-finals.
