no football games. Here’s what’s at risk

After Fagioli and Tonali, now it’s Nicolò Zaniolo’s turn. The former Roma striker, now at Aston Villa, will be the next player heard by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office in the betting case that is shaking up Italian football. The Italian, registered in the register of suspects, will be summoned in the next few days to clarify his position, which however seems lighter than that of Fagioli and Tonali.

INSIGHTS

Betting, former goalkeeper Marco Paoloni: «I lost everything. A classmate showed me an app, a bit like Fagioli con Tonali”

In fact, already in the first conversation he had with the investigators he had always denied having bet on football, admitting that he had played poker and blackjack on a site that he did not know was illegal.

A version that, so far, matches what emerged from the prosecutor’s investigations. No evidence of football betting was found in Zaniolo’s phone, nor was his name brought up by Fagioli or Tonali.

However, Zaniolo will have to explain why his name appears among the users of illegal platforms and clarify how it got there, given that access to the portal is only permitted by invitation. In any case, if this version is confirmed, the player risks, from a criminal point of view, a heavy fine, while there would be no consequences from a sporting point of view, having not bet on football.
