The Seattle Seahawks have handed the New York Giants a devastating defeat in the US football league NFL. Thanks to a strong defensive performance, the Seahawks won 24-3 at the Giants on Monday evening (local time).
Rookie Devon Witherspoon had, among other things, seven tackles and two sacks, and the 22-year-old cornerback also made what was probably the decisive play at the end of the third quarter when the score was 14:3.
Some absences due to injury
After an interception just before his own end zone, Witherspoon ran 97 yards down the field and scored a touchdown. The Seahawks also set a club record with a total of eleven sacks against New York quarterback Daniel Jones.
Seattle, which now has three wins from the first four games of the season, paid for its success with a few failures, including Jamal Adams, who suffered a concussion during his comeback, and quarterback Geno Smith also had to sit out after a tackle in the first half, but returned return to the field later.
For the New York Giants it was the third defeat in the fourth game of the season.
