About ten months after leaving the DFB, the former professional soccer player Oliver Bierhoff takes a job again and becomes a consultant for the American football team New England Patriots. The National Football League (NFL) club announced this on Thursday.

“American football is a great sport and the best entertainment. “I have been a huge football fan for years and love the passion, athleticism and excitement of this game,” explained Bierhoff. He is “proud to be part of the Patriots family in the future.” His official title at the Patriots, who have won the Super Bowl six times, is “Business Advisor”.

The 55-year-old will primarily help the Patriots with their expansion plans in German-speaking countries. Bierhoff was also recently there when the German national soccer team held a training session at the Patriots facility in Foxborough during his planned trip to the USA.

First job for Bierhoff after DFB exit

Jen Farron, Chief Marketing Officer at Kraft Sports and Entertainment, said: “Although the New England Patriots have been involved in Germany and other European countries since 2017, this is often still new territory for us.
