Meijer and Ohio score for the Dutch Juniors
The Dutch Juniors have achieved a resounding victory against their peers from Georgia, taking a huge step towards the 2025 European Championship. The goals were scored by three players from our Jupiler Pro League. Bjorn Meijer (Club Brugge) scored the first two goals, Noah Ohio (Standard) recorded the 0-3 final score.

Bridge in goal
Barring any surprises, Bart Verbruggen (21) will make his debut for the Netherlands against France. This would make the former Anderlecht goalkeeper, who now plays for Brighton, the youngest goalkeeper in the Netherlands since Jan van Beveren in 1967.
Verbruggen moved from Anderlecht to Premier League club Brighton last summer, which paid around 20 million for him. There, the Dutchman is in a rotation with fellow goalkeeper Jason Steele – every two games they alternate between the posts.
“I did say that he should not play such a short ball in his own penalty area again,” grinned Ronald Koeman, who did not yet want to formally confirm the choice of Verbruggen. I don’t want to experience the same thing as the last time in Ireland again.”
With that ‘short ball’, the national coach refers to Verbruggen’s match against Liverpool on Sunday, in which the goalkeeper gave a short, risky ball in the build-up, leading to a penalty. Something similar happened last month in Dublin against Ireland with Mark Fleken, much to Koeman’s annoyance at the time. It barely ended well in the opening phase, but not much later the Dutch team quickly fell behind.
“Bart has to play like this from his coach (Roberto de Zerbi, ed.), that is the assignment, even if things go wrong,” said Koeman. “But I prefer not to have it that way.”
