Master ‘Officina della Poetry, Theater, and the Arts’ 2023-2024 Presents ‘From Story to Dramaturgy’ Lectio Magistralis

Among the initiatives connected to numerous Italian universities and their Dams, open free of charge with the Florentine library system, and the Mad Murate, tomorrow at 6.30 pm in the Sibilla Aleramo room of the Oblate library in via dell’Oriolo 24, the Master ‘Officina della poetry, theater and the arts’ 2023~2024 and Professor Ugo De Vita will hold the lectio magistralis: ‘From story to dramaturgy’. It will be proposed by ‘Campionesse rebellious’ (Aliberti Edizioni) by Giovanni Tosco and Sandro Bocchio, a reading with interludes on the cello by the musician Andrea Sernesi.

The protagonist will be Giulia Romolini, the Florentine actress previously directed by De Vita, and with her there will be Massimiliano Cardini, Leonardo Paoli and Elena Cerbone. The text offers portraits of great sporting talents: from Althea Gibson, the first black tennis player to take the field in an international tournament, to Kathine Switzer, who overcame the prejudices of those who were convinced that women could not run the marathon; from Maria Toorpakai Wazir, who counteracted the rigidity of Islam by becoming a badminton champion, to Simone Biles (her record of 23 world titles in gymnastics).

“The writing of the original – underlines De Vita – is in itself predisposed to multiple languages and different levels of communication: the spectacular text here is made up of a choice of ‘paintings’ for the scene. An opportunity to pay such attention to the young aspiring authors, to be able to develop their own dramatic method”. Free admission.
