Mallorca and Getafe tie at nothing in Son Moix

The battle between the two most intense teams in LaLiga EA Sports ended in a draw. Mallorca and Getafe annulled each other in Son Moix and continue to lack arguments to break the streak of six consecutive games without winning that both have chained together.

The script of the match was what was expected, it did not surprise anyone: intense, difficult, hard football, not suitable for those who seek subtlety and finesse in this sport.

Mallorca and Getafe neutralized each other in the first half with a common objective that brooked no discussion. Winning was an obligation to break the common streak of five consecutive days without winning.

In the law of the jungle, with two teams owning the foul statistics in the main European leagues (183 infractions committed by the Vermillions in ten games; 172 by the Azulones), the clash was characterized by continuous interruptions of the game.

The Mexican Javier Aguirre recovered Antonio Raillo and Pablo Maffeo for the cause, although both started on the bench; José Bordalás, with the sensitive loss of the Uruguayan Mauro Arambarri, injured, turned to a midfielder, the Togolese Djené Dakonam, to accompany the Serbian Nemanja Maksinovic in the center of the field.

Aguirre had asked his players for “emotional balance” to read the game correctly and choose the best option at all times, without rushing or getting nervous. He had to forget that only two points separated the team from the relegation zone and that, until now, the fans still did not celebrate the first victory in Son Moix.

Bordalás, on the other hand, sent a much more optimistic message in the run-up, stating that rivals approach matches against his team “as if they were facing Madrid or Barça” due to how much they demand on the pitch.

Face to face, the two teams made it clear from the start of the clash that they were going to win and that they were not going to settle for increasing the number of draws that each one had in the table.

In the midst of the heat of battle for every square meter of the field, an exaggerated fear of making the first mistake reigned.

The referee disallowed a goal by Kosovar Vedat Muriqi (min. 3) for a clear offside in the only occasion in which the Kosovar was able to reach a ball free of marking in the first 45 minutes.

The vermillion Martin Valjent, with a header that went next to the left post of the visiting goal, and the blue Mason Greenwood, with a cross shot, were very close to opening the scoring.

But it was not like that and it was 0-0 at half-time, which reflected what happened in a rocky clash, with a lot of physical contact and without either team being able to assume control of the actions.

The Balearic team came out with more determination in the second act, against a rival who was waiting for their opportunity in hiding, trusting a lot in the solidity of their lines, and with Juanmi Latasa and Borja Mayoral fighting for all the balls up and down.

In five minutes, the Mallorcan players created two very clear chances to break the parity on the scoreboard. Muriqi had a chance, but he shot a rained ball into the air in the area; Abdon Prats also tried with a great shot on the turn that David Soria caught very well placed under the sticks.

Something different was requested in the final stretch. The draw was not a good result for Mallorca or Getafe and both Aguirre and Bordalás looked for solutions on the benches.

Amath, Larin, Morlanes and Maffeo entered the local team; Jaime Mata and Carles Aleñá on the visiting side.

Javier Aguirre’s team did not give up in its efforts to score the winning goal, driven by the encouragement of the public and the withdrawal of a rival who also waited until the end for the final counterattack.

None of that happened. The 0-0 was final and leaves Mallorca and Getafe chaining six consecutive days without celebrating the achievement of the three points.
