Expected at the Mavericks this season after last year’s failure, Luka Doncic is on track to miss the restart. Absent for almost the entire preparation, the Slovenian is not doing better after his World Cup. We can say that this is worrying.
While the season will resume in just a few days, the Mavericks will be entitled to a rather nice meeting for the resumption: a Texan derby against Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs. The NBA was undoubtedly hoping for a shock from the start, but their plans may have just fallen through. The fault of one Luka Doncic injured, and who does not yet know when he will be able to return to the basketball court.
Initially affected in February, Doncic has suffered a calf problem since. His injury subsided, allowing him to play in the World Cup with Slovenia, but the pain returned towards the end of the competition. From ? The medical staff asked him to stay in the infirmary, even though he insisted on playing a few minutes during this pre-season against Real Madrid, his former team.

Of course, Doncic could return to the Mavericks fairly quickly, but we imagine that the medical staff will want to take their time. The season is long and losing the Slovenian due to a serious injury is THE disaster scenario. We must therefore be careful, even if it means taking risks and losing matches during this restart.
Fortunately, Kyrie Irving will be there to keep the boat afloat if necessary. However, others imagine the worst…
