Las Vegas Raiders Defeat New England Patriots 21-17, Garoppolo Injured in Second Half

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Brian Hoyer relieved the injured Jimmy Garoppolo to throw for 102 yards in the second half, Daniel Carlson kicked four field goals and the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the New England Patriots 21-17 on Sunday.

Garoppolo played the entire first half before being ruled out with a back injury. He completed 14 of 22 passes for 162 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The Raiders have won successive games to move to .500 with a 3-3 record and ended a six-game streak dating back to last season of not scoring at least 20 points.

It was the Raiders’ 500th regular-season victory as a franchise, the 10th most in history.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick remains with 299 career wins in the regular season, losing to his former offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels.

Josh Jacobs rushed for 77 yards for the Raiders, rookie tight end Michael Mayer caught five passes for 75 yards and former Patriots player Jakobi Meyers finished with five receptions and 61 yards.

The Patriots (1-5) have lost three games in a row, although they ended a streak of 79 points by their rivals and 10 straight quarters without a touchdown.
