The debut in Portugal of Red Bull Four 2 Score brought a new concept full of intensity – power football. Traveling across the country looking for the best talent, the competition passed through the city of Odivelas last Saturday. The Naide Gomes Multisports Park hosted a total of 20 men’s teams, culminating in the decisive game between the teams “Joga Bonito Sintra” and “Al Nation”. After the ten regular minutes, the score tied forced extra time – which according to the rules resulted in a final one-on-one confrontation. The final result of 3-2 dictated the qualification of “Al Nation” for the National Final.
The final qualifying stage of the tournament takes place next Saturday, May 25th, in Oliveira de Azeméis, launching the challenge to all the talents from the center and north of the country. Registration can be done at official page. Participants must be amateur players residing in Portugal, aged between 16 and 35. The competition takes place on Rua António Marques and check-in is scheduled for 9 am. The public has free entry. The best of the best will travel to Praia de Carcavelos on June 8th, to compete in the National Final that qualifies the Portuguese representatives for the World Final, which will take place in September at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig, in Germany.
The teams are made up of four players (+1 substitute) without a goalkeeper who battle for glory on a variety of fields (in the Oliveira de Azeméis stage it will be on tarmac, in a 30×15 format), in challenges lasting 10 minutes . Goals scored in the first and last minutes are worth double and teams can be male, mixed or female. Based on the philosophy of power football, this is an international competition involving 27 countries from four continents. All Red Bull clubs will be involved: FC Red Bull Salzburg (Austria), Red Bull Bragantino (Brazil), New York Red Bulls (USA) and RB Leipzig (Germany). Also in tune are big names in world football, such as Memphis Depay, Trinity Rodman and Neymar. The world star of Freestyle football, Frenchman Séan Garnier, is the event’s ambassador.
The Red Bull Four 2 Score is also a great opportunity for new talents in women’s football to show their full potential on the field, with the qualification of a women’s team for the World Final being at stake.
