Krejčíková and Siniaková Fall Short in Final Matches, Czech Players Rise in WTA Rankings

The 27-year-old Krejčíková tried to win the third title of the season in China, but in the final she lost 6:2, 2:6 and 4:6 to the home player Cheng Chin-wen. She improved by five places in the ranking.

Even the injured Siniaková did not succeed in the final, losing 6:3, 4:6 and 4:6 to last year’s US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez from Canada in Hong Kong. Even so, she moved up significantly in the WTA ranking.

Markéta Vondroušová remained the Czech number one in eighth place, Karolína Muchová was ninth. Petra Kvitová is fifteenth, and in the first hundred there are also Marie Bouzková (29th), Karolína Plíšková (37th), Linda Nosková (42nd) and Linda Fruhvirtová (85th).

In the men’s ranking, Jiří Lehečka is the best Czech player on the 30th place, and only Tomáš Macháč is on the 81st position in the top 100. Novak Djokovic of Serbia is world number one, the women’s ranking is led by Aryna Sabalenková of Belarus.
