This morning on the mat in the dojo of the Wermelskirchen Judo Club (JCWK) it’s not about Waza-ari and Ippon, but rather fun and imparting values are the focus. Board member and trainer Sven Dicke invited second graders from the St. Michael Catholic Elementary School (KGS) to get a taste of the sport of judo. And there is a good reason for this, “because the children have lost access to the clubs as a result of the open all-day event,” says Sven Dicke: “We want to create something new for the children.” And that’s why around 20 primary school students were there this morning gathered for the first course of the judo weeks.
