Johan Rojas Wins Silver Medal in Men’s -60 kg Judo at Pan American Games

Johan Rojas, from Risaraldense, with outstanding performances at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, won the silver medal in the -60 kg category.

The judoka qualified for the final in the -60 kilograms after having won the three previous matches in the round of 16, quarterfinals and semifinal.

“It is a medal with a lot of sacrifice, a lot of merit, I expected more logically, this time the rival took a different pace and took the advantage,” said Johan Rojas after playing the final.

In the grand final he faced the Brazilian Michel Félix, a fight in which he fell despite the fact that he was initially well studied, so the Risaraldense was ‘Pan American Runner-up’.

The judoka also commented on the great sacrifice that was made to be there: “For me it means that the hard work is worth it, the effort, the sacrifices, being away from home practically all year round is worth it. To the Risaralda judo team a very big hug, this is for the new generations and those to come.”
