Jean-Clair Todibo Explains Controversial Laughter During Minute of Silence

While the national ethics council decided to summon him to explain himself, Jean-Clair Todibo, who had burst into laughter during the minute of silence which preceded Netherlands – France, Friday in Amsterdam (1-2 ), wanted to speak this Monday in Villeneuve-d’Ascq. “I wanted to express myself today in relation to the scale of the situation,” he said. The interpretation of the situation is quite crazy. I don’t think I’m a disrespectful guy when it comes to that sort of thing. I had a nervous laugh during that minute of silence but in no way was I making fun of the current situation.”

“The context was quite special: we were in the stands among the opposing supporters,” he continued. Some made certain jokes and this nervous laugh came out. I wanted to apologize to anyone who may have been offended. This taints the education my mother gave me. She took some time to give it to me. Some people said I didn’t care if a teacher died. You should know that my mother has worked in national education for twenty years and this could have happened to my mother. This doesn’t reflect my image at all and it bothers me a little. »
