Jannik Sinner reached the round of 16 in Vienna
After number one, Daniil Medvedev, number two of the Erste Bank Open 2023 also reached the round of 16 on Wednesday: Jannik Sinner defeated Ben Shelton 7:6 (2) and 7:5 and will play against compatriot Lorenzo Sonego tomorrow, Thursday , who slipped into the field as a lucky loser.
Sinner had his fingers crossed for Sonego in his last qualifying game against Alexandre Müller in the box. So now it’s against his buddy. In the match against Shelton, a strong Tebreak in the first round was enough for Snner to win – and the break made it 6:5 in the second act.
