Isaac Babadi’s Switch from NEC’s Youth Academy to PSV: Choosing the Right Opportunity

In the summer of 2018, Isaac Babadi switched from NEC’s youth academy to PSV. Yet it would not have made much difference if he had played for Ajax.

“Both clubs have been to our house,” brother Samuel begins opposite ELF Football Magazine. “On behalf of PSV, that was the then head of youth training Pascal Jansen. We had nice conversations in which they cited Memphis as an example, but to be honest: we had doubts.”

“We always had no chance against the big Ajax as a youth, while we were often able to resist PSV. But Isaac’s feeling at PSV was simply very good,” Samuel continues. Ultimately, he also chose to switch to PSV.

“He needed that incentive from PSV,” says Jord Roos, former youth coach of Babadi at NEC. “At NEC he did not always defend, because he knew: I am the best in the team. That was not possible in Eindhoven.”
